About how she pursued her part in the new movie Sunshine Cleaning- "I didn’t audition—I hounded!” Adams admits. “I hounded [producer] Scott Rudin and John Patrick Shanley for months!” Another actor was attached to the part, so Adams was told to forget it. Still, she flew to New York and called Shanley with the old ruse that she was already there on other business, and could they just meet for coffee? “I’m a tenacious person, but I’m not usually that sort of dog-with-a-bone,” says Adams. “But I just loved Doubt. I loved the delicacy of it."

Regarding "Faith" - "Faith is something I’ve been exploring in my roles for a while,” Adams says as she takes a dainty bite of her room-service salad. “How we deal with doubt, how we deal with questions.” With each new character, she asks herself: What is this character’s religious background? “I think it’s a great indicator of behavior—their faith or the lack thereof."

Chace is cheerfully reeling off the indictments against him. "Model turned actor, dime a dozen, eye candy, doesn't know what he's doing ... and Perez Hilton says I have 'gayface.' So on top of everything else, I have to overcome gayface."

Chace, whose demeanor is friendly and relaxed, says he loves his job. Good thing, since he, like all the principals, is under contract for another six seasons. "It never really gets frustrating," he says. "Sure, sometimes you just want to have a scene where you're drunk or having fun. I'm hoping for a fall from grace for Nate. Five years from now, I better have murdered someone!"

PENN

Penn, who's 21, is funny and articulate, if prone to the occasional conversational misfire that makes you want to hand him a rewind button. Example:

Penn on the paparazzi: Sometimes it's like, I wanna walk my dog, and I can't, because there might be photographers.

Me: You have a dog?

Penn: No. Everybody else does, though.

"People who don't know me that well often think I'm a bit of an asshole and take myself too seriously," he says

That's me," he says. "Batman. I am Batman." He leans forward, liking the ring of it. "I am Batman."

"Secret identity?" I ask.

"Oh, yeah," he says.

"So who are you right now?"

He smirks. "Pure Bruce Wayne."

Mr. Franco has had a flurry of media recently to promote his role as Harvey Milk's lover Scott Smith in the Gus Van Sandt directed Milk starring Sean Penn.

He was photographed for Interview Magazine by photographer Mikael Jansson and interviewed by the director for the recent issue.

GVS: So we haven’t talked about Zac yet.
JF: What is Zac?

GVS: Zac Efron.
JF: Oh. Well, yeah, we can talk about Zac.

GVS: Where did you see him?
JF: I met him for the first time backstage at the MTV Movie Awards. Lucas Grabeel, who is in Milk, is also in High School Musical [2006] with Zac Efron, and so we had been talking about High School Musical a lot. I hadn’t seen it, but my girlfriend was a big fan of the movie—I don’t know why. She was like, “You’ve got to watch it.” And I was like, “All right, I’ll watch it because Lucas is in it.” So I watched it, and I guess I could kind of see the appeal. Some of the songs are kind of catchy. There’s one where Zac is playing basketball, but it’s also like a musical number . . . I don’t know. [laughs] I remember we were all sitting around on the set of Milk and I said, “I saw High School Musical.” I said it like I had never sounded so interested in anything before. Then I think you said that you had tried to get Zac for a small role in Milk.

GVS: Yeah. The pizza guy. He never had time.
JF: Right. So then when I saw him at the MTV Movie Awards, I was like, “Hey, man. Good to meet you, Zac. I really like the movie, and I just worked with Gus, and he tried to get you in his movie.” And Zac was like, “Yeah, yeah. It just didn’t work out.” And I was like, “Well, you should really do a movie with Gus. I think it would be a good contrast to your other stuff.” He’s like, “Yeah, maybe.” And then I was walking away to go back to my seat, and he tapped me on the shoulder and said, “We should do it together, man.” And he, like, gave me a high five. He was really the nicest guy.

It was a crane shot—I’m sure in the end it will be a really cool shot, but it starts close and then it takes maybe a minute. That’s a long time on film with everybody watching and, like, a fake mustache getting in your mouth. It was long enough that you couldn’t help thinking, ‘Oh, my God, I’m kissing Spicoli."

There was some controversy recently when the star of Ugly Betty commented on what she thinks is the negative aspects of the female characters on the CW's Gossip Girl and the effect it has on young female viewers.

A snippet of her statements to US Magazine -

"Close, genuine female relationships are not what generally gets depicted in movies and TV shows," the "Ugly Betty" star told Seventeen. "Like, if you're watching "The Hills" or "90210", all the backstabbing shapes the way we act – you go to school, and you think your job is to find a sworn enemy and be jealous of each other."

Ferrera said she's "worked with other girls before and it was pretty catty," but that wasn't the case during the filming of the movie "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants."

"I was like, 'I'm just going to show up to work and be professional – not their best friend,'" she reportedly told the magazine about how she felt before they started shooting. "But a couple of weeks into shooting, Amber [Tamblyn] and I started talking. She's a hippie, and I thought we had nothing in common – and now she's one of my closest friends!"

She also had kind words to say about co-star Blake Lively, while slamming the show she stars in.

"I mean, I love Blake; she’s a wonderful friend of mine, but shows like "Gossip Girl" kind of condition us to be mean," Ferrera said."

Anne Hathaway lands another cover, this time for Entertainment Weekly's "A Princess No More" issue. She was photographed by Marc Hom and interviewed by Missy Schwartz.

She is currently promoting her role of a drug addict in the new Jonathan Demme directed movie "Rachel Getting Married". The movie is debuted at the Toronto Film Festival and her portrayal is garnering rave reviews.

Of course the white elephant that she's currently dealing with is the scandal involving her ex boyfriend Raffaelo Follieri's guilty plea in his embezzlement charges. Regarding her current habit of being press shy and avoiding the "limelight" - ''You know those girls that, like, go out?'' she says, sipping a soy latte. ''I'm just not confident enough to do that. I'm not the sort of girl that will throw on a short skirt and tease her hair up. I feel uncomfortable with attention. Truly, I am a wallflower by nature.''

Regarding the impact that her role in "Rachel Getting Married" has had on her life and outlook as an actress - "I feel like there's a clear point in my life before this movie and after this movie,'' she says. ''I'm a fairly guarded person and I can be pretty insecure when I first meet people. But Jonathan got me. He became my friend and mentor.'' When Hathaway talks about Demme, she becomes intensely earnest: ''I've had the most honest artistic experience of my life. And I will spend, minimum, 20 years searching for another one of these.''

About how the scandal has affected her personally and career wise recently - ''I was shown such enormous kindness from my friends that, as difficult as it was, I can't complain,'' Hathaway says. ''It's funny that this has become a part of my story because it's not something that I'd like to talk about all the time.'' She shifts in her seat. ''I have to be very careful because I don't want it to define me. And I don't want to subconsciously exploit it.''

On how he chooses films to star in: “I give a f—, but I don’t give that much of a f—. I’m still going to throw in some goofy s—. I don’t want to get too precious.”

On his upcoming film Milk: “I just had such a wonderful time. it’s such a great ensemble. Speed Racer was such a highly controlled performance environment that I found, honestly, a little frustrating at times just because it’s so hard when you’re on the green screen and it’s all about, ‘Bat this eyelash a little bit here.’ On Milk, it was just a free-for-all and we were all going nuts.”

The star of NBC’s Lipstick Jungle, who has enjoyed a modeling and acting career that has spanned more than three decades, reveals she suffered from low self-esteem and body insecurities for most of her life.

Brooke was horrified when a dance instructor forced her to watch herself perform in front of a mirror during class to boost her self-confidence.

“I was like: ‘Are you crazy? What if I don’t like what I see?’ I was so tall and never skinny. I just wanted to put my head in the sand and not think about my body.”

On realizing her on immature behavior on past movie sets - “One day on Rachel Getting Married, Jonathan altered something in the script, and I said, ‘Jonathan! Why did you change this?! It was better the other way and here’s A, B, C, D, E, F, G why!’ And he smiled at me and said, ‘Hey, Annie? Maybe instead of telling me why I’m wrong, you could ask me why I made the choice I made.’” With that response, she says, memories of herself being dismissive or abrasive on sets past came rushing back. “I instantly felt so ashamed,” she says. “I didn’t mean to be disrespectful to people, but that’s exactly what I had done for years.”

About understanding the support system she has and having optimism - “I’ve realized,” she says, “that no one is as good at making me feel isolated as I am. It’s something I did in the past.” Fortunately, difficult times have their rewards. “I’ve realized I have a lot of people in my life who, for whatever reason, love me very much. So I don’t think I’ll do that again.”

It seems like Ms. Hathaway is hopeful for the future and moving towards some closure with her past.
