D Squared S/S 2009 Milan show featured Retro Stars Esther Canadas, Fernanda Tavares and Nadege du Bospertus as a modern Charlie's Angels trio.

Perhaps there's a trend for Retro Stars following Marc Jacob's recent S/S 2009 New York show which had Emma Balfour, Christina Kruse and Jamie Bochert. You can read my previous posting regarding the Jacobs show here. Check out the new Women Management polaroids of Christina and Jamie here.

A great review of the show through Style.com can be viewed through this link. A slideshow of the collection also through Style.com can be accessed here.

Is it just my opinion that Esther Canadas is starting to morph into Jocelyn Wildenstein?

Very Donna Mills' turn in last season's Nip/Tuck "Lulu Gridiron" episode?

Speaking of Posh Spice .....

Victoria Beckham (in Victoria Beckham) and Jennifer Lopez preen and pose in the front row of Marc Jacob's S/S 2009 show at Bryant Park last Monday September 7th 2008.

Victoria also debuted her collection, with dresses costing around $1500, during New York Fashion Week.

Ms. Beckham is sporting her new gamine crop haircut. Master hair stylist Garren said his inspiration was Mia Farrow (circa Rosemary's Baby) and Audrey Hepburn (circa Sabrina). I also say there's a bit of Jean Seberg (circa Breathless) and Leslie Caron (circa An American in Paris).

Garren was also responsible for Linda Evangelista's legendary "Boy Crop" haircut that launched her career in the 1990's. You can read about that in an article I wrote for The Imagist via this link.

Yay or Nay? - Marc Jacobs Skirt - Part II - Pure Purple Pain

Yay or Nay? Marc Jacobs is photographed with Victoria Beckham and his Brazilian advertising boy friend Lorenzo Martone on their way to a New York S/S 2009 Fashion Week event. He's wearing another skirt, pushing the same "Man Skirt" look that he featured at the end of his Marc Jacobs S/S 2009 show. Read about it here.

About the skirt - Aww Hell No!! The cut is not flattering and the color is Pure Purple Pain. I "heart" Marc, just not his skirts. But I'm sure it's very cool for the man candy underneath, with a breeze gusting every now and then. Somehow Mr. Jacobs' Man Skirts just don't have the same suave factor as those of Jean Paul Gaultier.

The show featured some Retro Stars such as Jamie Bochert (who opened the show), Emma Balfour and Christina Kruse. Rising Star Brazilian beauty Aline Weber closes the show.

The collection itself was a major Fashion-Champloo. A crazy mix of looks and pieces from diverse periods such as the late 1800's Victorian, early 1900's Paul Poiret and Gibson Girl, 1940's looks of Rosie the Riveter, 1950's emergence of American Sportswear a la Claire McCardell.

Fabrics were a mix of plaids, florals and abstract prints, but all in fine fabrics. Accessories featured prim hats, lots of bangles/bracelets and sandals/open toed strappy pumps. Make up and hair was minimal, almost bare and natural.

I personally am COVETING the shiny tote carried by Raquel Zimmerman in look 18.

On the Style.com you can read a great review of the show and see the complete runway collection via this link. View the closing of the show, on the Ford Models Community web page, via this link.
