Candis Cayne partied it up last Monday September 8th 2009 at the Edison building in Downtown L.A. for the Dirty Sexy Money Season 1 DVD launch party.

Ms. Cayne (born Brendan McDaniel) rose to fame as a premiere female impersonator/cabaret performer in NYC at weekly shows hosted with her husband DJ Marco. You can contact Ms. Cayne via her Myspace page.

Last year, in an interview for Homo Xtra, a gay entertainment guide based in NY city, Candis stated -

How did you get involved in the upcoming ABC drama series, Dirty Sexy Money?

Patricia Field was the costume designer for the pilot and actually recommended me for the role! I play Billy Baldwin's character's mistress, and every time you see her she's either in her bedroom or in a hotel room- wearing Louboutin. I thought I was maybe going to be in it for a couple episodes, but the writers must be getting a good response, because they've put me in four more episodes so far and keep writing new scenes for my character. It's a dream for me.

Were you intimidated by Billy (William Baldwin)?

Totally. But when I met him at the table read, he was like, "Candis! Give me a hug!" He was so relaxed and not awkward. He later asked a lot about my relationship with Marco, because his character is sort of in the same situation. A lot of people have weird notions that I'm gay or that people who date me are gay, but he got it and was really into it. Well, not into it, but...

Is it true that your voice was digitally lowered for the pilot episode in post-production?

Yes, but if they want to lower my voice for shock value, fine. They asked me to lower my voice, but I couldn't bring myself to do something that was completely unnatural for me. It's really important for me as a trans actress to be in situations that I'm comfortable with, because there's a lot of weird stuff thrown at trans actresses that we'd never do.

So you have to pick your battles, because there are trannies with lower voices, but no tranny would ever stand to pee, for example. As soon as that happened in Transamerica the movie lost me.

With my role in CSI: NY earlier this year, they had a lot of stuff like that written in-like going into a men's room-and I said, "I won't do that because I would never do it in real life." That part was originally written for a drag queen, but I auditioned and I snatched. I snatched!

Isn't Dirty Sexy Money the first time that a trans actress has played a recurring trans character on television?

I think so! The first recurring trans character was on Ugly Betty, but Rebecca Romjin's a woman—which is better than a man playing it! I'm just happy the media is really starting to embrace us, and I'm happy to be working again. After I started transitioning, I stopped working for nearly 10 years.

I couldn't go out for the drag roles because I was too womanly, and I couldn't go out for the woman roles because there's a gay guy in every single goddamn casting who'd be like, "She's a man!" It's always the gays spooking you. But now I think it's the year of the tranny. It's finally my year!

Meet Isis, a 22 year old transgendered post-op from Prince George's County in Maryland. She will be one of the 14 contestants on this upcoming season's America's Next Top Model, which begins September 3rd 2008.

Isis says "My cards were dealt differently." Adding that she identifies herself as "a woman born physically male." She also states "I like to help people, but I'm here to follow my dreams."

GLAAD president Neil Giuliano as "an unprecedented opportunity for a community that is underrepresented on television."

"We applaud Tyra Banks and The CW for making this historic visibility of transgender people possible." Giuliano has said.

TRANSPOWER: THAI TEENAGE TRANNIE TOILETTES

A Thai school named Kampang is now offering a TRANSGENDER TOILET for it's number of Trans-Identified students, estimated between 10%-20%. The "in-between" toilet is "signposted with a half-man, half-woman figure in blue and red".

According to headmaster Sitisak Sumontha, the school built the toilets because "They used to be teased every time they used the boys' toilets," he said, "so they started using the girls' toilets instead. But that made the girls feel uncomfortable. It made these boys unhappy, and started to affect their work."

The toilets are a success and are happily used by the school's transgendered students. Students due have the option of going through complete sexual reassingment surgery when they become adults, and do have limited acceptance by Thai society, especially in occupations such as entertainment, beauty and hospitality fields.

An example of a famously successful Newhalf is the actress Nong Poy. However they do still encounter discrimination in regular occupations such as finance, law, etc., and they still cannot apply for legal change in sexual status even after their surgery.

SHE WAS BORN A BIOLOGICAL MALE named Tracheeda Marnyaporn and had her sex change at the age of 17 years old. During a talk show interview, Poy revealed that from a young age she that she always felt that she was a girl, and had disgust for her "male organ". For the sake of her parents, she went through the motions of being a boy.

After struggling with these issues all through her childhood, she researched sexual reassingment surgery, met with counselors and doctors and decided to have her sex change at 17. She said that even though the process was extemely painful physically, the knowledge of becoming a full fledge woman carried her through.

At the age of 19, she won the title of Miss Tiffany 2004, a trans beauty pageant in Thailand. Here is a video clip of her being interviewed during the Miss Tiffany 2007 pageant.

A few months afterwards, she won the title of Miss International Queen, a multi national trans beauty pageant. Here is the video clip of her performance and interview on the Japanese show "Best 123" as Miss International Queen.

Today, she has parlayed these achievements into a successful career as a actress, model, and business woman with her own skin care line.
